Tupac's Makiavelli preceded Macchiavelli's The Prince in my life, but both have shaped me in similar fashion.
Dante's Inferno was read in my first year of undergrad as part of our Literature Humanities course of the Cor Curriculum at Columbia. Well, it was sort of read. It was read in that quick first-year fashion when there is not enough time in the day to actually soak all the assigned reading in.
